Last week, I got older. Yes, it was my birthday. I asked myself, “Why am I on earth?; who is celebrating me, celebrating that I am on earth?; Why should I celebrate?” And I got my answers.
Ephesians 1 proclaims, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.” (Ephesians 1:3-6 ESV)
Why am I on earth? Because God chose me, planned my coming and made it happen.
Who is celebrating my birthday? God. He wanted me and made me His.
Why should I celebrate? I am chosen and blessed, and life is worth living.
